Handcrafted shrouds for natural burial, cremation and traditional funerals

Portrait.jpg

The way we care for the body after death
can be one final expression of love.

At Sacred Wings, I create handmade burial shrouds that offer a gentle and beautiful alternative to a conventional coffin. Whether chosen for natural burial, cremation or a traditional funeral, each shroud is made with care to honour both the person who has died and those who love them.

Some people choose one of my ready-made shrouds, while others plan ahead or commission a piece that reflects an individual life through cherished textiles, favourite colours or handcrafted details.

For many families, choosing or creating a shroud becomes more than a practical decision. It offers a sense of agency during grief or anticipation, creating space for love, remembrance and one final act of care.

What people say

Handcrafted biodegradable burial shroud on a willow stretcher in a bluebell woodland for natural burial.

Through an Arts Council England partly funded project, in association with St Catherine’s Hospice, Dagmara made a shroud for my wife Sarah. Dagmara took an Egyptian artwork my wife made over 30 years ago, researched its origins and designed and made a shroud based on the artwork and my wife’s memories of its history. The care, love and thought Dagmara put into this was beyond belief and my wife and I would recommend others to put their wishes into her hands.

Dagmara is sensitive, creative and determined to give the best experience to help you honour, grieve and release the one you have lost. I was very grateful for her support and vision in helping me go through the process. I can highly recommend her work.

I’m so in love with Dagmara’s work. Her shrouds are a beautiful work of art for your loved one. I will definitely have one. She has such versatility and every single one is unique and stunning and personal. Each shroud is crafted with absolute focus on your person. She has been on my podcast and told me the story of how she arrived at shroud making as an art form. It’s fascinating, she has such lovely skills with people too and her workshops with Luna Arts are popular. I can’t recommend her highly enough . If you’re considering doing something really special for a send off for someone you love or even want something to keep as a familial heirloom shroud you won’t find any artist anywhere doing this with more sensitivity and skill. They’re environmentally conscious too and so much nicer than traditional wooden coffins .
